20190825-Amazon Rainfores Fire, Fake News?

Doutor Agro’s comment on Amazon Rainforest Fire:

-Agro is a professor of Business Administration at USP in Ribeirao Preto, Brazil.  He is a specialist in agribusiness strategic planning.

He said:

-Brazil is one of the top countries to fight the carbon economy in the world and is trying to make things better.   To be blame for the Amazon Forest fire is unfair.

-The forest is not burning like what the media is saying.  There are some spots in the forest burning due to natural forest fires, legal burning-  these are traditional fires that have been going on for years.   This year might be a bit higher due to warmer weather but not nothing crazy as the Fake news make it to be.   It is NOT like the whole forest is burning down. (4:33).

-However, the fire is at a location where the fire control is difficult.

-Why this year there is so much coverage on this?  He doesn’t know.   To him, there is nothing really unusual.

-He and others got picture of Kangaroogirafferabbits dying in the fire.  But these kinds of animals don’t live in Amazon!    He also saw pictures from Amazon taken 5 or 6 years ago.  So he think this is all fake news.

-Why did people trying to link the Amazon fire with the food production?   Their food production area is 2000 meters away from the Amazon!

-Due to the increase demand in Asia, Brazil will increase agricultural land by 10% in ten years.  It will use 10% of its land and has nothing to do with Amazon.   So, they don’t need to cut down trees for agricultural production.

-Brazilians are all for the Amazon and no one wants to see it destroyed!   They have environmental codes and institution to monitor the Amazon forest.

-Everyone needs to calm down.  Amazon Forest will still be there.  Believe in Brazil.

(Wendy:   Now I wonder what is really going on!)   If this is fake news, why?
